While Instrument rating is a prerequisite for Commercial Pilot License aspirants but as a Private Pilot License Holder, IR will give you the expertise to handle slight weather conditions for safer in and out of airports.
Privileges of Instrument Rating
Instrument Rating qualifies and thoroughly trains a pilot to fly in situations where outside visibility is bad or not available. In weather conditions like winters, fog or with thick clouds, with IR, Pilot is still capable on executing a safe flight with reference to the aircraft instruments on a set instructions of the path.
Requirements:
- PCAA issued valid PPL or higher license
- A valid Class 1 Medical Certificate by CAMB.
Ground Studies for Theoretical Knowledge:
- Air Law related to the flight under IFR
- Radio Aids
- Aircraft Instruments: principles of operation, serviceability, limitations, errors, uses and procedures in case of malfunctions
- IFR Flight Preparation and Planning
- Human Performance and Limitations relevant to Instrument Flights
- Practical Navigation using Radio Navigation Aids
- Radiotelephony procedures associated to IFR Flights
Flying Experience
The requirement is to fly 40 hours of Instrument Flying.
